What is Gifted Testing?
Gifted testing is a formal assessment designed to measure a child’s intellectual abilities. The results, along with other school documentation, help determine if a child qualifies for a gifted program in their school or district.
Palm Beach County requires a specific IQ score to determine eligibility for gifted education services, and Rising Lotus uses standardized assessments which are accepted by both the Palm Beach County School Board and private schools throughout the area.
What Does the Gifted Testing Process Include?
The Gifted Testing Process at Rising Lotus is simple, straightforward and desinged to provide answers about your child’s intellectual abilities, as well as what school environment might be best for them.
The process includes administering a standardized IQ tests such as the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-V) which evaluates Verbal comprehension, Visual-spatial reasoning, Working memory, Processing speed and Fluid reasoning. This is accomplished in a one-on-one setting with our licensed psychologist.
After testing, parents are provided a detailed written report summarizing their child’s results. Parents also have a feedback session with our psychologist to:

If your child excels academically, shows advanced reasoning skills, seems bored or unchallenged in school, or if the school has suggested testing, a private gifted evaluation can be extremely helpful.

The IQ test takes about 1 to 2 hours.

No. Gifted testing only measures cognitive ability (IQ). Diagnosing ADHD, learning disorders, or emotional concerns requires a separate psychological evaluation. Comprehensive Psychological Evaluations are available at Rising Lotus, with our Licensed Psychologist.

Many schools accept private gifted assessments. Palm Beach County accepts the standarized testing we utilize at Rising Lotus, as well as private schools throughout the county.

No. Health insurance does not cover gifted testing because it is considered an educational evaluation, not a medical necessity. We’re happy to discuss the gifted testing cost and provide a clear fee structure when you contact our office.
